Talk About July 2016
July 28, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+0Free
This month we are really excited to have the opportunity to listen to two distinguished members of our Society.
Our first speaker will be our friend Román Zapién-Campos. A Biotechnological Engineer by the IPN in Mexico, Roman is interested in combining theoretical and experimental approaches to engineer biological systems with predictable dynamics. Now, at his Master in UCL he is developing a mathematical model to study how mutualism, an ecological interaction where all actors are benefited, could be engineered and preserved in evolutionary times. We are sure his talk “The evolution of ecological niche & mutualism” will be incredibly appealing to anyone interested in analysing actors from a very different perspective. Can’t wait!
Our second speaker will be our friend José Mario González Meljem. Trained as a Biotechnology Engineering from the Monterrey Tech and having completed a Master in UCL, he has done some research on molecular biology, cancer and stem cells. Now, as a PhD researcher in UCL he focuses on understanding the role of senescence during the initial steps of cancer development. A big challenge. We are really sure his talk about “Understanding the role of senescence in cancer biology: challenging the dogma” would definitely give you many thoughts about what we know (and we don’t yet) about this disease.
As usual, after the TalkAbout, we plan to have one pint (or two) in some pub around the corner.
Please, do not hestitate to invite anyone interested and hope to see you there!
